Moodboard: Mahjong & More – a Game Room to Love
Have you jumped on the Mahjong bandwagon yet? I feel like it’s everywhere these days and if you haven’t, you will soon. I learned to play a couple years ago and have slowly expanded my mahjong circle by teaching more and more friends to play. I’ve even taught my husband and kids so anytime we have a free evening, we find ourselves playing a few games before bed.
Along with the mahjong craze, so many fun mahjong rooms have popped up! They are the perfect place to keep your favorite tiles, mats, and accessories out on display and to be ready for an impromptu game at a moment’s notice.
As we play more and more, I wish a had a place to keep everything out so it would be easier to play our favorite game. We have a formal dining room that we only use a few times a year and I have been dreaming about turning it into our own little game room. I’d love to add cozy armchairs so it can be used for more than just games. Our very own cozy sitting, reading, game room, if you will.

Rug | Chairs | Coffee Table | Sideboard | Art | Rechargeable Sconces | Console Table | Ottomans | Lamp
A large coffee table would be the perfect place to have everything set up. And when we aren’t playing, we can still relax in the chairs with coffee, a book, or homework for the kids. The sideboard would still allow us to store dining essentials like china, glasses, napkins, serving dishes, etc. The ottomans tucked under the console table are perfect for a fifth or sixth player to pull up and watch or learn. Add some pretty accessories and artwork and we have an ideal place to play games or relax with coffee and a book!
So what do you think? Would you give up a formal dining room for a sitting / game room?
